Diskettes are a thing of the past with the rise of modern storage devices, but they sure had a long run in the past. Diskettes can also be referred to as floppy disks, disk packs, disk cartridges, and diskettes themselves. Sometimes, they are simply known as "floppies". These terms were used to describe the removable storage media that were widely used in computers during the '70s, '80s, and '90s.
